The picturesque town of Baden hosted the Limmatlauf, a rather flat, 13.2 km long circuit. My personal objective was to reach the finishing line within 1 hour. The route lead through the historic city center, along the river Limmat, and straight on to Siggenthaler Field. A bitchy rise at kilometer 4 gave the whole experience the necessary zest.
In high spirits, I started the race with the first and probably fastest group of runners. My initial pace was below 4 min/km, which was overly optimistic. I suffered during the rise, took a moment to recover once I had reached the Siggenthaler Field, and finally found a handy rhythm. Quicker than expected the finishing line came into sight. I covered the last 400 m in a sprint.
Happy and somewhat tired from the run I feel good about the duration: 00:55:57 or 04:14 min/km. That's quite a feather in my cap...
