Week 06 - Cold and Wet

Spring is a wonderful time of the year for "wannabe endurance athletes" like me. Warm weather and more sunshine translate into more time and energy. I appreciate the opportunity for cycling and running outdoors without having to dress like an eskimo. This past week felt a bit like winter, though. My coach Michaela made sure that I felt cold and wet every single morning. She asked 8 swimming workouts from me, 7 of them at 6 a.m. The main goal of the week was to get a better grip of water, stabilize my body position , and reduce the number of strokes needed to cross the pool. Michaela's secondary goal was to make sure that my body gets used to the switch between cycling and running. She had me practise it six times - a total of 7 hours of cycling and 6 hours of running. I would say that week 7 definitely was not the easiest week so far.
