One more time ...! It's time to do the “Mürzer Oberland Naturpark Triathlon” again. My sister and I already participated in this contest last year and were happy to finish in less than 3 hours. This year we expected to be faster. (I have to admit that my preparation was lousy. I did a tough15 km run in the midday sun on Wednesday and hardly recovered. Dehydration is not really an athlete’s best friend...)
Friday morning, I flew in from Zurich to meet my family in Graz. Saturday morning, my sister and I drove to Neuberg/Murz, a very cosy place for holiday-makers. We checked into the race and attended the obligatory race briefing. Swimsuits were not permitted. The run would take place on dirty tracks and grasslands. The same procedure as last year.
Our result was an improvement (by almost 15%) in every discipline:
Swimming: 00:25:30 (as compared to 00:31:00)
Cycling: 01:09:00 (as compared to 01:19:00)
Running: 00:51:00 (as compared to 00:58:00)
Transitions: 00:03:30 (as compared to 00:05:00)
We were perfectly satisfied with our performance and enjoyed a superb early dinner before we drove back to Graz.My parents, my sister and I spent our Sunday at Lake Wildon near Graz. Then it was back to Zurich for me.
