Michaela tells me the taper is where all my preparation comes together to peak my fitness. I am afraid it turns my previously trained abs into a muffin top ... The amount and intensity of my training were massively reduced last week. I only swam 7 km once, cycled twice (100km), and ran three times (42km). All training modules asked for low speed, with some short sprints.
I used the weekend for mental relaxation at the Mediterranean and simply skipped my Saturday cycling hours. Although Michaela reduced the extent of my training significantly, I still feel exhausted, tired and quite drained. At the moment I do not see how I could ever perform well in the half-distance Ironman Triathlon in Podersdorf this coming Saturday. I can only trust that Michaela’s training aims to improve my triathlon proficiency level to the max... My motto has recently changed from “inside this body is an elite triathlete trying to get out” to “inside this body is a wimp trying to hide”. Hopefully this will change again next week!
