This week I start preparing for the Lucerne marathon. Gentle long jogs alternate with short and brisk runs. Cycling and swimming are significantly reduced.
Equipment-wise, I am well prepared - thanks to Mathias. I got two new pairs of running shoes – a fast one from Saucony and a cushioning one from New Balance. I feel really fine in both.
My program consists of a mere 6 km of swimming, 150 km of cycling, and 70 km of running. Some easy jogging is scheduled for Sunday. However, after only 5 km I feel a stabbing pain in my left shank - a pulled hamstring? I have to stop running immediately and walk home slowly, feeling an increasing twinge at the back of my thigh. I am afraid the rest of my Sunday is dedicated to lying horizontally on the sofa...
